  • trip26snowThere are 225 Chapters covering 7 geographic regions, 37 states and the District of Columbia, with 10,000 mothers & associates and over 30,000 family members.
  • There are seven (7) National Officers who represent seven Regions. They are as follows: President, Vice President, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, Treasurer, Program director and Editor. The Parliamentarian is appointed.
  • There are seven (7) Regions: Mid-Western, Central, Eastern, Far-West, Mid-Atlantic, South Central, and Southeastern. Each Region is represented by a Regional Director, Secretary-Treasurer and Member-at-Large (MAL).
  • The Jack’s and Jill’s of our organization are the male and female children, respectively.
  • The Founding Members of the Greater Lansing Chapter are: Sharon Cardwell, Harriette Gillum. Carrie Jackson, Sarah Vern-King, Patricia Little, and JaMille Webster.
  • The Greater Lansing Chapter was chartered at National Convention 1982 and installed on March 12, 1983.

Question: What does Jack and Jill do to draw attention to their mission?
Answer: Jack and Jill sponsors Jack and Jill Day which is observed during t he month of September. It also observes National Black Family Day on the first Saturday in May.

Question: When does Jack and Jill hold conferences and conventions?
Answer: The National Convention meets biennially (even numbered years). The Mothers' Regional Conferences meet biennially also but on alternate years with the National Convention (therefore, odd numbered years). The Teenage Regional Conferences meet annually.

Question: What publications does Jack and Jill publish?
Answer: Scope, our newspaper, is published annually by the National Program Director. Up The Hill is our journal published annually by the National Editor. And last but not least, Intercom is our Foundation newsletter, edited by the National Vice President.

Question: I am a teenager but not a member; can I participate in Jack and Jill activities?
Answer: Teenagers who are not members of Jack and Jill may attend chapter social activities upon invitation from the local teenage sponsors. Only Jack and Jill teen members may attend the Teenage Regional Conferences.

Question: I am a mother but my children have passed the age requirement for membership. Can I still be a member of the organization?
Answer: A mother may become an Associate Member of the organization when her youngest child reaches age twenty, or when the youngest child completes high school, by paying the National per Capita Tax, Regional per Capita Tax, and whatever else the local chapter deems necessary.
